Right in front of the centre of Le Castella, in 2007 a wreck was reported at a depth of 31 meters. It was initially dated back to the IV century B.C.
The site was documented for the first time in the framework of the project Archeomar of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities (2007). On the sandy bottom, there are several fragmented amphorae, a part of which can be attributed to the family of Corinthian Type B. Also a hopper with a grindstone and some lead ingots may be attributed to the cargo.
The materials found on this wreck (see the data card below on the lead ingot) are kept at the National Archaeological Museum of Crotone.
